Audio Technician | $30 per hour | Apply here.

At the moment, we are recruiting for this position on an as-needed basis and cannot guarantee a set number of shifts per week / month. There might be scope for the role to develop over time but for now the work offered will be on as-needed basis. New hires will shadow the Lead Tech before covering shifts independently. Short-term and immediate availability will be prioritized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor the sound system during parties.

  • Conduct pre-event checks, including mics, DJ equipment, speakers, and connections.

  • Troubleshoot any audio issues that arise during events.

  • Communicate with the Lead Audio Tech about how the system is functioning from party to party.

  • Support visiting DJs and performers with their technical needs (set-up, changeovers, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Ability, stamina, and focus to manage sound for 7–10 hour shifts in a club environment.

  • Attentive ear and ability to maintain a consistent, high-quality sound experience throughout an event.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Openness to take technical and aesthetic direction is necessary for this role. While there is no single “right way,” there are standards for sound at Nowadays, as well as preferences of the management team that should be recognized.

  • Some experience with club or live sound systems (DJ mixers, CDJs, turntables, microphones, speakers, amps, processing equipment) is a plus but not strictly necessary.

  • A background in music, DJing, or sound engineering is highly recommended.

  • No advanced knowledge of programming or system design is required, though a basic understanding of signal flow and troubleshooting is a big plus.
