Starting on Wednesday, July 1st, our backyard will be open weekly from Wednesday to Sunday. We’re doing this because we want to reconnect with you and give our staff, especially those who have been unable to claim unemployment benefits, a chance to earn a living again. Diner by Izakaya will have a new menu for the food truck; we’ll have cocktails, draft beer, canned beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages at the bar; and we’ll put together some good playlists to keep the vibe nice. More menu info and exact hours are coming soon.
In order to open as safely as possible, we’re instituting new safety guidelines. We’re providing PPE to our staff and doing temperature checks throughout everyone’s shift, starting with a check upon arrival. To keep capacity below 25%, we’ll be using a table reservation system (more on that in a moment). Tables will be at least six feet apart, and we’re asking everyone to stay at their table unless ordering food or drinks, going to the bathroom, or using the smoking section. You’ll also need to wear a face covering anytime you’re not at your table. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the space, and common surfaces will be disinfected regularly, with tables and seats disinfected between seatings.
Because of our limited capacity and the cost of implementing safety measures, it will be difficult for us to break even as we re-open. To make this financially sustainable, we’re asking for your continued support on Patreon. We will also be charging a $5 cover through the online reservation system. We know that many people in our community have lost income recently, so if the cover is a barrier for you, drop us a line at hello@nullnowadays.nyc — everyone deserves access to our space.
The reservation system will open for our first week – July 1 through July 5 – on Friday to all of our Patreon supporters. (Notice will be sent through Patreon.) On Monday, if there are still reservation spaces left, we’ll open them to everyone else. We’ll send an email notification (sign up for our email list at the bottom of this page) and post to our Instagram if and when those reservations do become available. We look forward to seeing you in real life again.
