Below you’ll find a list of the positions we’re hiring for across our team. All positions require availability for major holiday weekends including New Years, Halloween, Pride, Memorial Day and Labor Day. Availability is additionally required for weekends with any community-adjacent festivals including Movement, Sustain-Release, Dripping and Honcho. Shifts are mostly on the weekend and are typically between seven and nine hours in length.

Bartender $10.65/hr + tips

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and liquor.
  • Interact with customers, take orders, and provide recommendations based on their preferences.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area and follow all sanitization guidelines.
  • Manage cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently using a POS system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and inform management of any shortages.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation and a positive work environment.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of bartending in a full bar setting.
  • At least two years of experience in a fast-paced, high volume and customer facing service position.
  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktail recipes and use of bar equipment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work late nights, early mornings, weekend and holidays in a club environment.
  • Certification in bartending or mixology is a plus.

Barback $12/hr + tips

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist bartenders in preparing and serving beverages including batching cocktails.
  • Ensure the bar is well-stocked with supplies, including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and utensils.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including washing glassware, cleaning spills, and disposing of trash.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies as needed.
  • Collect empty glasses and bottles from the bar, seating areas and the dance floor.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the bar.
  • Support bartenders with tasks such as cutting fruit, preparing garnishes, and organizing storage areas.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation and a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a bar back or in a similar role is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication, teamwork, organizational and multitasking skills.
  • High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift heavy items for extended periods.
  • Ability to work late nights, early mornings, weekend and holidays in a club environment.

Safer Space Monitor $28/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests and check them in upon arrival, including explaining our safer space policy and house rules.
  • Monitor the dance floor to ensure that our safer space policy is being upheld.
  • Interact with guests, providing support and assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with security staff and management to address any safety concerns.
  • Participate in regular training on conflict resolution, de-escalation, and first-responder intervention.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with team members and management and contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Document and report any incidents or safety concerns to management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role or relevant training in conflict resolution and de-escalation.
  • Experience with bystander intervention and harm reduction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all guests.
  • Physical stamina to walk throughout the venue for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation and a positive work environment.

EMT $30/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quickly respond to medical emergencies, providing first aid, CPR, and other medical interventions as needed.
  • Assess the condition of patients and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Use and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
  • Document incidents and medical interventions accurately.
  • Collaborate with security and management to ensure a safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with local emergency services when necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Current EMT-B certification.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • At least 2 years experience working as an EMT.
  • At least 1 year of experience of hands-on harm reduction work.
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and emergency procedures.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Lighting technician $28 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate lighting equipment during parties.
  • Conduct pre-event checks and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise.
  • Communicate with Lead Lighting Tech about how system is functioning from party to party.

Qualifications

  • Ability, stamina and focus to operate lights for 7-9 hour shifts in a club environment.
  • Ability to match lights to the tempo and mood of the music.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The openness to take aesthetic direction is necessary for this role. While there is no “right way”, there is a general aesthetic for club lighting, for the style of lights at Nowadays, as well as some preferences of the management team that should be recognized.
  • Some experience operating a lighting board or program is a plus but not necessary.
  • A background in music or as a DJ is highly recommended.
  • No knowledge of programming lighting programs is necessary, though having a basic understanding of programming, whether electronics, lights or even music / synths, is a plus and usually necessary for most basic troubleshooting.
