Saturday: The Bunker X with Resom and Derek Plaslaiko

The Bunker is back. Here’s what they’ve got to say about the party:

The Bunker X is inspired by our nights of collaborative sets over the past two years on Memorial Day with Interdimensional Transmissions at Tangent Gallery in Detroit. We pair two artists for each event who we feel will work together to create an exciting and unique night of music. We don’t expect the artists to play B2B all night or to do two long sets, we’re leaving it up to them to decide how to share the night and how they want to interpret their collaboration.

For this edition we’ve invited Berlin’s Resom to play alongside our resident DJ Derek Plaslaiko. After many years of working with Resom in her capacity as a booking agent, we discovered that she is also an incredible DJ. She absolutely floored us with her edition of The Bunker Podcast back in 2016, and then again when she played for us in Good Room in 2017. She also caught the ear of fellow Berlin resident Derek Plaslaiko, and when they told us they wanted to do some collaborative sets together, we couldn’t resist snagging them for The Bunker X. Tonight will be their first time collaborating on a long set like this and we cannot wait to see how their shared love of eclectic sounds brings the intimate Nowadays dance floor to life.

In the warmer months, Nowadays opens up the backyard for the evening and invites DJs to play backyard BBQ vibes. For this edition we’ve invited good friends and incredibly deep selectors Nihal Ramchandani and Ken Meier to dig deep and bring us a night of cuts that fall between the cracks of what you might normally hear on a night out.

Nowadays as always will deliver it’s amazing vibes, world class sound, and very comfortable environment that should be perfect for these events.

Saturday: Umfang and LSDXOXO

For this installment of our weekly rave up, Discwoman co-founder and Nowadays resident Umfang joins up with DJ, producer and all around force of nature LSDXOXO.

In the back yard: Jesse Mann has been sharing his collection of funk, disco, house, bootleg edits and Afro-Latin grooves with dance floors for nearly two decades (we have him to thank for many great nights spent dancing at his seven-year Bembe residency). He’ll be running our backyard vibe from 8pm on.

Saturday: Powder All Night

Tokyo’s Moko Shibata, aka Powder, has releases on ESP Institute, CockTail d’Amore Music and Born Free Records. She graced us with an all night set in May of last year, and we couldn’t wait to have her back. If you caught her the first time, you know why.

Two talented local selectors, Cole and Nina, are handling the vibes out back from 8pm on.

Saturday: Aurora Halal All Night

Along with being a Nowadays resident, Aurora Halal is the person behind the Sustain-Release festival and Mutual Dreaming parties. She’s stretching out with an extended, start-to-finish set for this one.

Laying down the chill vibes out back we’ve got Berlin Community Radio’s Perila. They’ll be on the outdoor decks from 8pm until late.

Saturday: FNV, JD Samson and Amber Valentine

JT Almon and Michael Magnan, known collectively as FNV, are back in the house for another all-night rave up, this time with assistance from NYC nightlife staples JD Samson and Amber Valentine. Many will know the duo from their always-fantastic PAT party, as well as Amber’s MISSTER jam and JD’s band resume, which includes Le Tigre and MEN. Come ready to sweat.

Outdoors, we’ve enlisted John Barera to set the mood. John is an NYC-based DJ and producer with releases on Allergy Season, Argot, Episodes, Just Jack and Dolly. He’s also a co-founder, alongside Volvox, of the party and label Jack Dept. He’s on the backyard system from 8pm on.

Saturday: Physical Therapy and Henning Baer

Physical Therapy is boss of the Allergy Season label, a resident here at Nowadays and a producer with releases on 1080p, SOBO, Delft and Nonplus Records. Henning Baer is a resident and co-founder of Grounded Theory and a staple of Berlin’s techno scene. Yeah, you’re in good hands for the night.

Out back we have Yuki, aka A1 Records’ Yuki Noji. She’s at the outdoor controls from 8pm until late.

Saturday: Aurora Halal, Simo Cell and Raw Unkut

Aurora Halal is the mastermind behind the Sustain-Release festival and a resident here at Nowadays. Simo Cell is a Paris-based selector and producer with releases on Livity Sound, Brothers from Different Mothers and Wisdom Teeth. Raw Unkut splits her time between Kiev and NYC and hosts a bi-monthly show on 20ft Radio.

Out back we’ve got Singapore-born, New York–based DJ Marco Weibel. Marco is a member of Darker Than Wax and hosts the collective’s weekly radio show on Lot Radio. We’ve got him controlling our outdoor vibes from 8pm on.
