livwutang

Since emerging from Seattle’s eclectic DIY scene, livwutang has established herself as one of dance music’s most singular yet versatile voices.

Proudly repping a “play weirder, not harder” ethos, the New York-based DJ has enraptured dancers across continents, resulting in lauded appearances at underground institutions such as FOLD, RAUM, Fünk, Ormside Projects, Video Club, 宀 and The White Hotel. With a deep respect for Chicago, Detroit and the lineage of dub, she has translated this expertise into sold-out, all-night-long sets at venues like The Pickle Factory, essaim, Process and Underground SF. She also remains a staple of Nowadays, where she serves as a longstanding resident.

This prowess for longform storytelling also expands into other rhythmic and stylistic terrain. A keen ear for dubwise sounds spanning techno, dubstep and downtempo has earned her slots at festivals as varied as Outlook, Houghton, RALLY, pe:rsona, Return to the Source, The Great Beyond and Waking Life. Her marathon closing set at 2023’s Sustain-Release was the stuff of legend, a performance immediately canonized in the mythos of one of North America’s most revered festivals.

Unconcerned with the hype of modern trends, her style bridges gaps between eras, scenes, and sounds in a way that feels deeply personal—building an inimitable sonic world that feels futuristic in its commitment to Black music, its artistry and its history.
