On Wednesday evenings we screen a music films, playing the audio through our very nice sound system. Diner by the Izakaya serves up hot ramen, and we’ve got high quality beers from the likes of Hudson Valley Brewing and Evil Twin at the bar. A little background for the week’s film:
In 1972, at the Los Angeles Coliseum, Stax Records brought together musicians and entertainers from the black community to remember the Watts Riots from seven years prior. Key performances include those of comedian Richard Pryor, and singers Isaac Hayes and the Staple Singers.
