Planetarium: Stud1nt, Debit and Kelman Duran

Every Thursday evening, we clear the floor between our speakers and invite folks over for a hi-fi listening session. Our resident selectors and special guests play everything from ambient and electronic music to pre-war blues and psychedelic rock, and often live performances are woven throughout.

For this edition, Planetarium resident Stud1nt is joined by Debit and Kelman Duran.

Debit is a New York DJ and producer who combines Latin rhythms, baroque synths and ambient textures to create both dance-floor jams and more ruminative offerings, as heard on her debut album, Animus, released last year on NAAFI.

Kelman is a resident selector at the Los Angeles–based soiree Rail Up, as well as a producer who layers reggaeton and rap vocals over airy, wistful soundscapes to create swirling, emotive tunes.

Both are known for exploring new aural frontiers, which is to say, they’ll fit right in at Planetarium.

Feel free to bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags — whatever you like to get comfortable. Also, we’ve found the night works best when everyone keeps their voice down, so please remain silent inside the main speaker area. Outside of that space, be sure to speak quietly enough that only the person you’re talking to can hear you.

We look forward to getting lost in music with you.
