Every Thursday evening, we clear the floor between our speakers and invite folks over for a hi-fi listening session. Our resident selectors and special guests play everything from ambient and electronic music to pre-war blues and psychedelic rock, and often live performances are woven throughout.
For this installment, Planetarium residents Hypnotic Spa (DJ Sofiia and Maxime Robillard) are joined behind the turntables by New York’s own Bryan Kasenic.
Bryan’s DJ resume includes hosting radio shows on WNYU and Red Bull Music Academy Radio and playing some of the best dance clubs around the globe. Oh, and then there’s that bit about creating a New York techno institution. Bryan founded The Bunker in 2003 and has since helped grow it into a staple of NYC’s electronic music scene. Given the Bunker’s longtime love affair with experimental tunes, we can’t wait to hear what Bryan pulls out at Planetarium.
Performing live is Turkish-born artist and Rote Productions co-founder Mehmet Irdel, aka Løt.te. For the better part of the last decade, Mehmet has trained his musical focus on industrial-flavored techno and ambient tracks — don’t be surprised if he explores the deeper, darker regions of space in this session.
Feel free to bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags — whatever you like to get comfortable. Also, we’ve found the night works best when everyone keeps their voice down, so please remain silent inside the main speaker area. Outside of that space, be sure to speak quietly enough that only the person you’re talking to can hear you.
We look forward to getting lost in music with you.
